Do I need to sign up to try WritingRoom?
To write, yes. Sign in free with Google or your email and you are in. The pricing page and the writer directory are open without an account. The Charts open when there are enough finished songs. The Lyric Analyzer needs a free sign in. Free gives you 5 songs you start and unlimited co-writes. You get the lyrics editor with section markers, a chord tray and rhyme suggestions, one memo per song, Demo Studio with two parts to record and layer, and split sheets you can sign and export as a PDF.
How does pricing work?
Free is free forever. Writing with other people is unlimited, and the cap is only on the songs you start. Studio removes the song cap and adds unlimited memos and demos, 16 Demo Studio parts with stems, clean PDF exports, a public writer profile, sealing for any version, and one hosted camp at a time. Publisher adds unlimited camps, the cross-camp dashboard and roster tools. Label adds bundled Studio seats for a whole roster. See the Pricing page for the latest details.
Who owns the songs I write here?
You do. WritingRoom never claims ownership of any lyric, melody, or recording you create. Split sheets you sign on the platform are stored as records you can export at any time.
What's a writing camp on WritingRoom?
Same thing as a writing camp anywhere else, a group of songwriters writing together over a focused window of days, often toward a specific artist or theme. The platform handles the workspace, rosters, splits, and exports for everyone in the camp. Public camps also have a discoverable landing page so future writers can find them.
How do public camps work? Are they actually open to anyone?
No. Public means publicly listed (so writers can find the camp brand and apply for future cohorts) but participation stays invite-only. The host curates who actually writes.
How does the public writer profile work?
It is off until you turn it on in Settings. Add what you do, where you are, a short bio and your links. Then people can find you in the writer directory.
Can I install WritingRoom as an app on my phone?
Yes. Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. It opens like an app.

Are my voice memos private?
Yes. Memos are private to the writers on the song. Nobody else can find them. Your audio is never used to train anything.
Can I record voice memos on iPhone?
Yes. Open the song in Safari and press record. Nothing to install.
What does the Lyric Analyzer actually do?
Once you are signed in, you paste lyrics, and it scores the song across structure, hook strength, lyrical depth, and commercial fit, then explains the score in plain language so you can decide what to tweak.
Is the Lyric Analyzer free?
Yes, the Lyric Analyzer is free once you sign in with a free account.
Can I export lyrics from a song?
Yes. In the room, press Export. On the song page, open More and choose View Export. Then pick PDF, plain text, or the full package with the lyrics and the split sheet.
